A high-performance padel racket, like the Head Coello Pro or Bullpadel Vertex 05, is a precision instrument. But without proper padel maintenance, its lifespan can be cut in half. From temperature swings to simple wear and tear, your racket faces many "enemies" on and off the court.

Follow this maintenance guide to keep your racket’s "pop" alive and protect your investment for as long as possible.

1. Temperature Control

The core of your racket (usually EVA or Polyethylene) is highly sensitive to heat and cold.

🎾 The Danger: Leaving your racket in a hot car or a cold garage can ruin the foam. Heat makes the core too soft (losing power), while cold makes it brittle (increasing the risk of cracks).

✅ The Fix: Always store your racket inside your house at room temperature. If you’re traveling, use a Thermal Padel Bag with a climate-control lining to stabilize the temperature.

2. Shield the Frame with Frame Protectors

Even the most careful players will eventually clip the glass or the floor. These small impacts create "micro-fractures" in the carbon fiber that eventually lead to a snapped racket.

✅ The Fix: Apply a high-quality Frame Protector as soon as you get a new racket. It acts as a shock absorber for those accidental scrapes. Replace the protector if it gets too beat up to ensure it keeps doing its job.

3. Keep it Dry: Moisture is the Enemy

Playing in the rain or on a damp morning isn't just bad for the ball, it’s bad for the racket. Moisture can seep into the frame's holes, making the core "heavy" and sluggish.

✅ The Fix: If your racket gets wet, dry it thoroughly with a towel as soon as you get off the court. Never put a damp racket directly into a closed bag; let it air dry at room temperature first.

4. Don’t Forget the Grip (Hygiene & Feel)

Your sweat contains salt and moisture that can eventually seep through the overgrip and weaken the racket’s handle or the base grip.

✅ The Fix: Change your Overgrip regularly. A fresh grip doesn't just give you better control; it prevents sweat from damaging the handle and keeps the racket feeling "new." Plus, it prevents the racket from slipping out of your hand and hitting the wall!

Is it time for a fresh start?

Even with perfect maintenance, every racket has a limit. If yours has lost its sound, started vibrating more than usual, or feels "dead" on impact, it might be time to look for a replacement that protects your arm and improves your game.
